Your satisfaction is our motivation

Terms & conditions

These terms explain how we work, so that your leak test runs smoothly and gives the most accurate result possible.

Quotations

  1. We are not VAT-registered and therefore do not charge VAT.
  2. Quotations are valid for 7 days. The quoted amount for the call-out and the first bottle of gas must be paid in full before leak detection starts.
  3. All additional gas, and any work not quoted for, will be charged separately to the client's account.

Cancellations

If a booked appointment is cancelled, a cancellation fee of 50% of the quoted or standard price will be charged. To avoid the fee, cancel at least 3 days before the appointment.

Payment

  1. By accepting the quotation, the client agrees to pay the full quoted amount (excluding additional gas and time) into our account before work starts.
  2. No work will start without an order number or letter of appointment. An instruction given via WhatsApp is deemed an official order.
  3. A report can be supplied once payment has been received.
  4. Non-payment resulting in legal action: the client will be responsible for all legal costs, interest, tracing and collection fees. The address given by the client is accepted as their domicilium, and all correspondence will be sent and delivered to this address. The client accepts that all electronic communication is valid and acceptable.

The client accepts that the agreement is deemed to have been concluded in Akasia, where the company is based, and that the court in this area has jurisdiction to hear any case.

Work & general

  1. All due care is taken during testing. However, Logix, its owner, staff and management can't be held responsible for any damage incurred on site.
  2. No guarantee is given other than a retest of the pipework (1 hour), which may be done if requested within 3 days and once the service has been paid in full.
  3. The client is expected to supply information on the location of the pipes, as this is of the utmost importance. If it isn't supplied, pipe locating will be an additional expense if not quoted for.
  4. The accuracy of our services depends on:
    1. Correct knowledge of the length of the pipe.
    2. Correct knowledge of the make or type of pipe.
    3. Correct knowledge of the layout of the reticulation network. Sprinkler systems, valves, boreholes, tanks, ponds and irrigation systems cause delays in detecting leaks.
  5. Where information is supplied by the client, or estimates are used, the service provider can't be held responsible for miscalculations.
  6. The following services are available at an additional charge if not quoted for:
    1. Pipe locating (third party)
    2. Valve locating (third party)
    3. Logging of water consumption and night-flow measurements
    4. Repairs (by third-party plumbers)
    5. Installation and replacement of water meters
  7. If gas is used, the owner is responsible for any cost of making sure the valves shut off properly.

Water use & noise

  1. No water may be used on site while the test is running. If the test has to be restarted, additional costs will be charged. The client must make sure that no water is used by themselves, their staff or anyone directly or indirectly under their control, whether by opening a tap, flushing a toilet, opening a valve or any other means. If leak detection has to be done at another time due to non-co-operation, 50% of the quoted price will be charged.

Noise

Because we test with acoustic equipment, the owner is responsible for switching off all noise-producing equipment, such as air-conditioning, pumps, vacuum cleaners, cold rooms, radios, sound systems or anything else that may interfere with the correlation. If the noise can't be reduced or switched off, 50% of the quoted price will be charged, and leak detection will take place at another time when the interference can be switched off.

T-pieces and joints

Acoustic testing has one drawback: a leak may appear to be where a T-piece is. In that case, once the T-piece is uncovered, it should be left open for further testing.

Night-flow or high-pressure leaks

  1. Some leaks only appear under high pressure, usually at night. In this case we recommend logging the water flow, at an additional cost.

General

  1. Where utilities don't conform to the National Building Regulations, we accept no liability for any information given based on those non-conforming utilities. The client is responsible for any repairs and further tests if non-conforming utilities cause a wrong diagnosis or result in damage to utilities.
  2. From time to time we need to drill probing holes in tiles, cement and paving, and to excavate or open up utility lines. By accepting the service, the client grants permission for this.
  3. Sourcing of equipment and parts will be charged at an hourly rate, including phone calls and driving to collect these items.
  4. By accepting the quotation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that funds are available to settle the quoted amount. If the company fails to pay, the person who placed the order will be held liable for all costs.

Installed equipment

  1. All installed equipment remains the property of Logix Water Leak Detection until paid in full.
  2. The guarantee on an installation extends only as far as the manufacturer's guarantee, and on labour only as far as correct installation.
  3. Only areas worked on are covered. No responsibility is taken for areas not worked on.

Imported equipment

  1. Quoted prices are subject to the R/$ or R/£ exchange rate, depending on the country of origin.
  2. Prices will be adjusted accordingly on the date of payment to the supplier, where applicable.
